503A Compounding Disclosure

About our compounding pharmacy
StatePharm Rx compounds medications for individual patients pursuant to valid prescriptions issued by licensed prescribers, consistent with applicable federal and state law governing 503A traditional compounding pharmacies. We prepare customized formulations when a commercially available product may not adequately meet a patient's needs as determined by the prescriber, for example an alternate strength, dosage form, flavor, or omission of certain inactive ingredients when clinically appropriate.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved
Compounded medications are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA does not verify the safety, effectiveness, or quality of compounded drugs before they are marketed in the same way it does for commercially manufactured, FDA-approved products. Compounded medications are prepared by licensed pharmacists (and, where applicable, under pharmacist supervision) according to professional standards and applicable USP and state board of pharmacy requirements for patient-specific prescriptions.
Prescription requirement
A valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider is required before we can compound and dispense a medication for a patient. Information on this website about therapies, dosage forms, or categories of compounding is educational and does not constitute an offer to sell a prescription product without a prescription.
Quality and safety
We follow applicable quality standards for compounding practice, including relevant United States Pharmacopeia (USP) chapters for nonsterile and sterile compounding as they apply to the preparations we make. Beyond-use dating, storage, and handling instructions are provided with dispensed medications and should be followed carefully. Discuss benefits, risks, alternatives, and monitoring with your prescriber and pharmacist. Report suspected adverse events to your healthcare provider and, when appropriate, to FDA MedWatch.
